Politics (from Greek: o, politik, 'city affairs') is the collection of practises synonymous with collective decision-making or other types of power relations between people, such as resource allocation or status. Political science refers to the field of social science that investigates politics.
It can be interpreted objectively in the sense of a "political solution" that is mutual and nonviolent, or descriptively as "the art or science of democracy," but it is often used negatively. "We don't play politics," abolitionist Wendell Phillips said, "and anti-slavery is no half-joke for us."
